Let’s not forget the basics here. AR (Augmented Reality) filters are way much different from preset filters Instagram already has. So preset filters help you edit your photo within seconds with just one tap.

But, AR filters are interactive, and they are made for the Instagram story only.

Step 2: Get to know the app

After the installation, take a look at Spark AR Studio Welcome Tour. It’s the best way to get to know the app a bit better before going for it.

There’s a section Learn where you can take a look at their guides and tutorials. We recommend you going through this first to get a better sense of how the app works.

Step 3: Pick your type

You can go to Create New to start making your Instagram story filter. You will need to choose the type of your filter.

Step 4: The Viewpoint

Once you picked the type of effect, a new window will open. The central panel is called the Viewpoint, and that’s where you will see the object you chose.

You can see the mobile device in the right corner that is used as a simulator.

On the left side is the Scene Panel you will use to edit your filter.

Now you can add a 3D asset from Asset Gallery or your own.

Step 5: Pick the behavior

This is where you decide what your chosen object will do. The Scene Panel on the left will help you reach the desired look.

You can edit the colors, animation, textures, etc. You can also decide where you want your filter to appear: front or rear camera, or maybe even both.
